AlPol Posted October 6, 2016 The cemetery's Find A Grave front page sounds less than inviting for taking gravestone photos (is no photography allowed?) but perhaps this cemetery was chosen because it is hardly represented by Find A Grave memorials at all (about ten percent), in which case, simply recording them without photos might be the most effective course of action. If several people did arrive I think we might study the layout and then split up and each proceed to a particular cemetery section. Perhaps one Find A Grave member who arrives will know some details about this particular cemetery. As for the cemetery management, which might not even be present, who would not welcome a positive, cheerful and respectful group of visitors? AlPol Link to comment
TimB Posted October 7, 2016 Mt. Olivet is a fairly historic place. I have no idea about their camera policy. I am planning on showing up with my camera tomorrow in hopes that I can find my younger brother who only lived to 2 days old. I don't expect there to be a marker for him, but I will be planning on taking photos of nearby markers. Link to comment
LoisClare Posted October 8, 2016 When and where is the meeting time for this location? I can go on 10/9 after 12pm. Link to comment
AlPol Posted October 8, 2016 Today's the day. The Find A Grave cemetery page has a map of the sections, among the cemetery photos (see attached), and TimB should be able to learn the section/lot for his family member from the cemetery office. Everyone have a safe drive! Link to comment
TimB Posted October 8, 2016 Spent 30-45 minutes in the rain looking for my younger brother in "Section 9". No Dice. There are not many markers in sections 9/10. I took about a dozen photos anyway and will be uploading them Link to comment
