I am not sure if this is allowed or not.. I need help finding information on three people who have all lived and died in Michigan.. I am going to post their information in one topic so no space is taken up.

My Mom, Aunt and Cousin have each told me that their "Uncle Bud" was killed when he was run over by a car and drug. I am hoping that someone may be able to find me a Newspaper Article about the incident or his obituary. I am not having any luck finding anything.

Details:
Name: Glen Montague Lawrence.
Born: July 4, 1922 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
Death: March 27, 1961 in Michigan.
Burial: Green Hill Cemetery in Union, Monroe County, West Virginia.
Parents:
Father: Gibson Montague "G.M." Lawrence [deceased at time of death].
Mother: Fay Catherine Beckner [Lawrence] Hilbert.
Step-Father: Albert Clinton Hilbert.

*Glen may or may not be spelled with two N's.

I am also looking for information on Glen's brother, Robert E. Lawrence and Robert's wife, Gladys Lawrence. I do not know his date of death but I know that Robert lived in Taylor, Wayne County, Michigan because his mother, Fay, must have been living with him at one point before she died at a Taylor, Michigan Hospital in 1976.

Details:
Name: Robert E. Lawrence.
Born: About 1926 or 1927 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
Death: Unknown in Michigan.
Parents:
Father: Gibson Montague "G.M." Lawrence.
Mother: Fay Catherine Beckner [Lawrence] Hilbert.
Step-Father: Albert Clinton Hilbert.

I found a Gladys Lawrence in the SSDI.. Her SSN was issued in West Virginia and she died in Taylor, Wayne County, Michigan. I am thinking that this may be Robert's wife.

Details:
Name: Gladys Lawrence.
Birth: May 11, 1927 in West Virginia.
Death: July 2, 1999 in Taylor, Wayne County, Michigan.

Any help would/will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Oh my gosh, svh77, thank you!

On what what website did you find that?

Glenn's sister, Mary C. Smith, was my Grandmother. She had passed away 8 years before I was born.

Thanks again! Really appreciate this!

Found it on Newspaperarchive, which I get free from one of the local libraries.

If you'd like a pdf of the original article, PM me with your email address and I'll be glad to send it.

Thank you! I will PM you.

I may have to join that website and see if I can find information on Robert and Gladys. Maybe the website could have an Obituary for Charles E. Lawrence, Robert and Glenn's brother. I had made a topic for him a couple days ago.

I know that you can contact Libraries and other sources to do Obituary/record look-ups for you but I have no idea who I could contact in Michigan or how their look-ups would work.

I'm kind of new to Genealogy, so I don't know a lot about contacting Libraries for records, look-ups and such.

Email on the way....

I looked for Gladys and Robert also, but without a date/location for Robert it's a tough one.

Perhaps someone else will have better resources for the Michigan area.

If you know the when and where someone died or was buried, I usually google to find a website for the county library (or major city in the area), then check out what they offer by way of helpful genealogical information. Often, the Reference Librarian will do obit lookups for a reasonable fee.

You can also check for county historical and/or genealogical societies. They will frequently have online indexes and/or research assistance as well.

Welcome to this very addicting hobby!

Thank you, svh77! I will see who I can contact in Michigan. Yesterday I was actually looking through the Obituaries that I have and my Grandmother's September 1982 Obituary does list Robert E. Lawrence as a surviving sibling! The January 2000 Obituary for Margaret McDowell [Mrs. Robert C. McDowell] does NOT list Robert E. Lawrence as a surviving sibling.. So Robert must have died sometime between 1982 and 2000. If the Obituary for Charles E. Lawrence could be found then Robert's death could be narrowed down even more to before or after 1997.

Thank you for all of your help!
