I have been on the hunt for history about this couple for years!!
I do not know where they were married . . . They had 7 children of whonm only 3 lived: Ted abt 1886, Florence 1888 and Cushman Aug 11 1893/4. Lavina died when Florence was 9 years old. Florence married Albert Lea Menton in 1910 Grand Rapids,Itasca, MN. They lived at Remer, Cass, MN until Nov 1918 when Florence died during the influenza outbreak, leaving six chiuldren aged about 10 years to 10 months..
After all three children were gone from home Wm married again and rumor has it that they had a daughter Alice. Later Ted and Wm. v are livng in ND but not together. Another clue given to me is something about langdon, ND; something about a greenhouse . . . just bits and pieces!!
Anyone know any of these people???

The story as I had always known it was that Florence's mother lavina died when she was nine; however, I also had found this territorial census finally and that disproves yet another of the family's tories!! We know that happens a lot in this business; but, that is the first proof that I have that she was still living in 1905!! I cannot verify her death on the MN death index.
Florence marries in 1910 but it is said that she had to care for house and home after her mother died, Cushman is still with his father on the 1910 census and Ted is in Langdon ND. Wish I knew what the Langdon connection was, wold give me more people to check up on and that is another family story but don't know who had relatives there, Wm V. or lavina . . . something about a family owning a greenhouse!!! Who had greenhouses in those days???
Thank you for this information, it always helps to have more pairs of eyes looking at things.

In America the first greenhouse on record was built around 1737 by Andrew Faneuil, a wealthy Boston merchant. Like his European predecessors, Faneuil used it primarily to grow fruit. The concept spread slowly, since almost all greenhouses were built for the wealthy. George Washington, perhaps the richest man in America, craved pineapples and ordered a pinery built at Mt. Vernon so he could serve pineapples to his guests. By 1825, greenhouses were becoming increasingly common. Many of the greenhouses were heated by furnace warmed air, some were pit greenhouses built into the earth and heated largely by south facing windows. This is a design that remains highly practical today.
Indeed the modern concept of the greenhouse is simple and practical. No longer is it the private domain of the monied class but something anyone interested in gardening can have for relatively little cost. Today a greenhouse can go virtually anywhere there is space; it can be attached to a house, placed in a backyard or perched on a deck, roof or balcony. In addition greenhouses are becoming more automated, reducing the time and care owners much spend. With new materials available today such as aluminum, pvc piping, fiberglass, acrylic, and polycarbonate panels as well as pressure treated wood ensures the consumer that their greenhouse will stand the test of time. Long gone are the days of shattered glass and over heated and under heated greenhouses.
