I am looking for the site of my 5g-grandfather's grave.

Jesse Arthur Dashiell Bradley
born 19 Dec 1801
died 12 May 1881

wife: Sallie Taylor

His burial location has been described as:

"burial at Cemetery on old M.C. Dickerson farm (8 miles NW of Delmar and 1/8 of a mile east of the Maryland State line)"

I believe this may be just over the border in DE on May Twilley Rd/County Rd 459; however, it could be somewhere else. The most important clue is that it is on MC Dickerson's farm.

Any ideas on how to proceed? I live in NJ. I would be willing to drive down for a day or two for research.

Sincerely,
Maurice Grillon

There is a Dickerson Chapel cemetery that is unmapped and I don't know if that is it or not. There aren't any cemeteries on Acme mapper on May Twilley Rd, but there is one 6.4 km NxNE of Hebron MD
38.47630 -75.67374 on Columbia Rd south of May Twilley.

I'm on the other side of the Chesapeake from there - might try to contact someone in that area who has entered a bunch of memorials in some of the local cemeteries.

PS - if it is east of the MD line, it will be in Delaware. You might try posting in that Forum.

Jesse is not in the Wicomico County Cemetery book. However there is a wife of Jesse A. D. Bradley in the Riverton Methodist Church Cemetery. Octavia E. Bradley, wife of Jesse A. D. Bradley, b. June 16, 1861, d. July 17, 1895.

Question: Was there another descendant with the same name? I found a will on family search for Jesse AD Bradley but the year was 1927. Reason I am asking is that he owned a farm in Sharpton and was wondering if they could have been buried on their own land.

Anyway it is an interesting document if you would like to look at it:

Found this little blurb which might help on location:

"Mockingbird Vol III, No. 13
It is documented that Bratten attended to patients as far away as five miles or more but still charged $1. There is one account, however, where the good doctor had to travel across the Maryland line into Delaware in the middle of the night to the home of Jesse A.D. Bradley, a disstance of about five miles, and he did charge 50 cents extra for the night call."
