Where would one start in researching a family in Alexandria Egypt from the mid to late 1800s? I realize that might be kind of a stretch, but we're stuck.

Specifically, a Moses (or Maurice?) Adda, old enough to have a son in the late 1860s or early 1870s. The son was fairly well educated, studying in Italy and France. His wife was named something like Lucie Abbeases. (This comes from the information of his son, so not entirely sure if the spellings are accurate).

Yes, we've researched the NYC family fairly well. Moses became Maurice and is the son/death certificate informant I mentioned. (I'm assuming named after the grandfather).
