To do a search for every cemetery in a particular state in Germany, begin with a full search for all of Germany. Now go into the address bar at the top of the screen, where the url reads the following: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csr&CScn=&CScntry=8&CSst=0In the last segment of the string, replace the 0 part of the CSst=0, with any one of the following codes, which will then drill the search down to the chosen state level. 1550 Baden-Baden-Wurttemberg 1551 Bavaria (Bayern) 1552 Bremen 1553 Hamburg 1554 Hessen 1555 Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) 1556 Nordrhein-Westfalen 1557 Rheinland-Pfalz 1558 Saarland 1559 Schleswig-Holstein 1560 Brandenburg 1561 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 1562 Saxony (Sachsen) 1563 Sachsen-Anhalt 1564 Thurigen 1565 Berlin

Tried your trick to find all the cemeteries listed in Findagrave for Germany. Wonderful results, and I appreciate your sharing of this valuable information. I want to add family memorials for the new Jewish Cemetery on Erlanger in Furth (Bavaria). I don't seem to find any cemeteries in Furth on Findagrave - Jewish or otherwise. I have tried Feurth, Fuerth, Furth, Nieu, Judischer, Friedhof. What am I doing wrong? Anyone have any ideas?

Please research the cemetery intensively before adding it to Findagrave. A lot of people don't and then they become bogus cemeteries. There are two cities mentioned in your post: Erlangen and Fürth (please note the Umlaute -two dots- over the 'U'). Both are cities in Bavaria just north of Nürnberg (Nuremberg in English). They are 12 miles apart with a few cemeteries in between. In Fürth there is the Alter Jüdischer Friedhof (Old Jewish Cemetery), opened in 1607, after it was vastly damaged by Nazis in 1936 it became pretty much abandoned. In 1949 after the war somewhat rebuilt. It's located right in the middle of the city. The Neuer Jüdischer Friedhof (New Jewish Cemetery) was opened in 1906, also largely damaged by the Nazis, but re-built and still in use. You can find it here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2462394

Thanks, Frank. I know about umlautes. Just don't feel they are needed in forums. Sorry. Thanks for the link to the New Jewish Cemetery. That's the one I am primarily interested in. The Old Cemetery would be useful, too. But it is hard to add graves as it was damaged several times. I can tell that some of my relatives were buried there, but probably the stones are gone as well as the bodies? Most of the memorials I wish to enter are in the New Cemetery (with stones). Thank you!

When entering a German Cemetery, is the German spelling the preffered name? I'm confused as I thought the German was preferred. This is the cemetery on wiki: The Jewish cemetery Ohlsdorf (German: Jüdischer Friedhof Ohlsdorf or Jüdischer Friedhof Ilandkoppel) also known as Ilandkoppel Jewish Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in the Ohlsdorf district of Hamburg, Germany. It is the only operating Jewish cemetery in Hamburg and still used for burials according to the Jewish ritual and tradition. It is adjacent to the large non-denominational Ohlsdorf Cemetery where more than 1.5 million people are resting. Jewish GenWeb refers to it as Cemetery Name: Jüdischer Friedhof Ilandkoppel. Here's what I find on Find A Grave. Cemetery #2 has the correct name. Should I add an also known as Ohlsdorf Jewish Cemetery and try to get them combined? 1) Ohlsdorf Jewish Cemetery 2) Judischer Friedhof Ilandkopel 3) Jewish Cemetery at Llandkoppel 4) Llandkoppel Cemetery in Ohlsdorf 5) Judischer Friedhof Ohlsdorf
