I have been doing some genealogy searches for my biological grandfather who died in a car accident while my grandmother was pregnant with my mother. I found some newspaper articles and found out that he died on July 7, 1935 and he was 33. He died in Bronxville, Westchester Co. and lived in Astoria, Queens.
His name was David Gustafson. One of the only clues we have is the attached piece of paper which says:
Gustafson
7298 OAK-WOOD
s.c. 1934/44
I believe this refers to the cemetery. I've had no luck searching on this site and even contacted the Oakwood in Westchester County and they didn't have anyone by that name.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

I think Oak-Wwood refers to the section of the cemetery. Since he lived in Queens, I would check the local cemteries, either Lutheran Cemetery or Mt Olivett Cemetery. What religion was he? When did your grandmother pass away? Wouldn't she be buried with him? Unless she remarried later on.

Your grandfather was buried in a section of a cemetery called: OAK-WOOD. I have a feeling that he may be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Something tells me they have a "Oak-wood" section there.

Thanks. She passed away in 1996. She did remarry and it was a secret that David was my mothers father. She didn't find out until she was 16 and saw her birth certificate. We didn't know as kids either.

She's at Ferncliff mausoleum with her second husband. He could possibly be there, we're looking into it.

No luck yet. He's not in Ferncliff. We are trying every cemetery in Queens, Bronx and some W'chester.

Why not order his death certificate? Please let me know which cemeteries you called already.

Send me your email address and I will send you the NYC Municipal Archives New York Cemetery list for your records. Email me at: Murrayfamiytree(at)aol.com. This list comes in quite handy.
