My Rondeau ancestors were in Santo Domingo (Haiti) until the revolution. Are there any others here working on ancestors from that Island?

Many of them were buried there and I have obits that were written in the parrish archives.

My paternal family left San Domingo due to the Revolution, settled in Charleston, SC. Sadly I do not know how the name was spelled before arriving in the US.Spelling since 1799 Kanapaux, could be canapea or several other variations

I'm not from San Domingo but I lived in Charleston for 11 years. It's a lovely place and I miss it.
