Hello,
I will be visitng Hong Kong in September and would like to find my grandfather and garndmother's graves (both on my Dad's & Mum's sides) they are buried in the Happy Valley or as it is now known the Hong Kong Cemetery. My grandfather's would have been buried in 1941 & 1946 respectively.
I would appreciate it if you would contact me and advise me how I go about finding them as their graves may have been moved when the Aberdeen tunnel or associated roads were built.
Thank you,
Sharon H
You can inquire at the cemetery office. Walk into the cemetery gate, turn immediately left, and turn left again at the next turn: the office is in the building under the overpass. The main door is on the side facing the road. They are very helpful and speak English. (Note: the office is closed Sundays.)
If their graves were located in the area of the Aberdeen Tunnel construction, their remains would have been moved to a columbarium building within the cemetery grounds. The columbarium was built for the purpose of housing relocated graves from the tunnel construction.
