Additional information for the Aron Wiebe Farm burialshttp://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2548917
Location: ½ mile north of the intersection of MN 30 & 490th Avenue,
Amboy Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota
NOTE: This location is inaccessible by road. There should be a mile of 490th Avenue on the eastern edge of the property but there is only a rutted track which does not go all the way through.
The only mention of the name Aron Wiebe in Cottonwood County land records is on the homestead records for land on the east side of Section 24 in Amboy Township, records which run from 15 Oct 1886 to 23 Nov 1891. The eastern edge of the land is on the dividing line between Amboy and Delton Townships. The western edge of the land abuts land owned by Peter Stubb. The Stubb and Wiebe families intermarried.
The Wiebe and Stubb properties are shown in the 1896 plat (http://geo.lib.umn.edu/plat_books/cottonwood1896/reference/map01636.jpg
) but in the 1906 plat (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mncotto2/maps/1909/amboy.html) they are both owned by a John H Parson. A large number of Mennonite families migrated to the Canadian prairie provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan at about that time.
It was not possible to search the land for headstones. The land is crossed by the Little Cottonwood River which is heavily wooded. Children who died very young were sometimes buried in the woods or at the edge of the woods without markers.
